Mark your calendars for February 27, 2007. That's the date for Chicago's General Election for Mayor, City Clerk, Treasurer, and Alderman. Besides brain-dead Mayor and Alderman who want to spy on everyone everywhere all-the-time, it's an opportunity to run candidates against machine politicians who probably haven't had an electoral aerobic workout (i.e. running a campaign against another candidate) in years if ever.
Some key dates to note follow.
- September 19, 2006
- First day to circulate for signature candidate nominating petitions for the offices of Mayor, Clerk, Treasurer and Alderman.
- December 11, 2006
- First day to file candidate nomination papers for the offices of Mayor, Clerk, Treasurer and Alderman with the Board of Election Commissioners.
- December 18, 2006
- Last day to file candidate nomination papers for the offices of Mayor, Clerk, Treasurer and Alderman with the Board of Election Commissioners.
- December 26, 2006
- Last day to file objections to candidate nomination papers for the offices of Mayor, Clerk, Treasurer and Alderman for the February 27, 2007Municipal General Election.
- February 20, 2007
- Last day (by 5:00 p.m.) a person may file a notarized Declaration of Intent to be a Write-in Candidate for the February 27, 2007 Municipal General Election.
